Former Crime Mob MC explains why the female rappers don’t bond so well

If you don’t know much about Diamond, you do know the fiery verse she spit on Crime Mob’s 2004 hit single, Knuck If You Buck. “I come in da club, shakin my dreads, throwin dem bows, and bussin dez heads,” she rapped on the song built for fight/crunk music.
Since then, Diamond’s parted ways with Crime Mob and went to pursue a solo career. Coming off the success of a trio of mixtapes called Bitch Muzik and P.M.S. (Pardon My Swag), Diamond’s on a new record label and she’s pushing a new single. And to ice the cake she’s hopped on Soulja Boy’s “My Swag, Remix.”

On Wax: How’s everything going?
Diamond:
Everything is going good, I’ve just released my 1st single titled “Lotta Money” and I also just shot the video with SoSo Def artist Dondria titled Shawty Wassup along with Johnta Austin, so I’m blessed I can’t complain.

On Wax: How did you get on the “My Chick Bad Remix?”
Diamond:
Well as everyone knows Lil’ Scrappy is signed to DTP, Ludacris let him hear the track and he felt like I would be perfect for it so he shared his thoughts on it with Luda’ and the rest is history, I still feel honored to this day that he allowed me to be part of that, I was able to work with two artist that I have looked up to for years and we created history so yeah its a beautiful thing (Laughs)

On Wax: How do you feel about the rap support from other women rappers have for each other?
Diamond:
I feel like we don’t support each other enough, were too busy wondering and waiting to see what the other is going to do and accomplish so we can start hating or try and out do each other that, the bond is never there, like with the male division of the game.

On Wax: How are your fans reacting to Bitch Muzik Part Three?
Diamond:
I really didn’t push Volume 3 like I did my other mixtapes, not because I was not proud of it but because, I honestly put it together strictly for my fans because they were so ready and anxious to hear new music for me, so with this one I made sure it was all original music like my other volumes just to let them know that I’m still here making music and I’m not sleeping.

On Wax: What made you want to release a series of mixtapes?
Diamond:
Because it was something new, not too many artist have released series of mixtapes and especially a female so whatever I do, I strive on being original.

On Wax: How did the deal with Jive/Battery Records come about?
Diamond:
Jive actually came to me, they contacted my management and put it in place two weeks later we were in a meeting making it happen, it’s a project that I’m very excited about.

On Wax: What’s your relationship like with former Crime Mob members?
Diamond:
Everything is all good M.I.G. was actually at my 22nd birthday party, and I stay in contact with the other guys as time allows.

On Wax: How’s your relationship with Princess?
Diamond:
We settled our differences and we actually talk on occasions, so it’s all love.

On Wax: Will you consider working with her on another project in the future?
Diamond:
Oh most definitely, I’m even looking forward to possibly working on a new Crime Mob album after I release my solo album.

On Wax: I read in an XXL article that for your new album you’re working with
Lloyd, Keri Hilson and Three 6 Mafia… How is it working with each of those guys?
Diamond:
Ahhh man, I had a incredible time working with everyone, what’s makes it more fun and amazing is that we all have relationships together and that makes the experience more exciting.

On Wax: Are there any other projects in the works or you plan to work on in the future, aside from music?
Diamond:
Well like I said I have my new single “Lotta Money” and right now as we speak I am actually in wardrobe for my video for the single so I’m very excited, I have a lot of things up my sleeve that I can’t discuss right now but just know more is to come.

On Wax: Who’s currently on your iPod?
Diamond:
Nicki Minaj “Your Love” Alicia Keys “Unthinkable”, Justin
Beiber the entire album (laughing)

On Wax: At 22, if you weren’t rapping what would you be doing?
Diamond:
Probably doing hair, I love doing hair that’s actually my first love.

On Wax: Thank you.
Diamond:
Thank you for taking this time out to get to know me more.
